Three Windmills sailed in the regatta and we all had a great time. My crew for the regatta was Tony Nunes, a world class jet-ski racer who has never been a sail boat. He arrived a day early for some practice, but the wind was almost nonexistent. About all that was accomplished was him learning how to set my manual whisker pole.
Scott & Jessica, Armand & Kelsey arrived Saturday morning. Still no wind and the start of race one was delayed until 1:30 with light winds. Scott gave us a driving clinic on finding wind to sail a boat. Races 2 & 3 the wind picked and sailing was excellent. The Windmill finally got Tony's attention with us both hiked out and going like crazy. On day two there were light winds for the 2 races. It ended up with Scott beating both Armand & myself quite handily. Scott also took 2nd place in the open centerboard division, his prize was a beautiful trophy with a blown glass sail boat. LYSA had a great dinner on Saturday evening. |
