Go For the Gold Regatta at GCYC, Scotts Flat Lake, CaJune 7 - 8
Story
Good weekend of sailing at the Go for the Gold Regatta this last
weekend. 5 Windmills registered, but Scott & Dave sailed together so
we had 4 on the water, but they gave us our own starts & trophies. The
wind was a bit challenging to say the least We had up wind starts,
down wind starts and no wind starts. Four races on Saturday & two and
Sunday. This was the most competitive Windmill fleet since I started
sailing. Closely matched on speed, it was the 100+ years of sailing
experience with Scott & Dave that gave them the edge on finding where
the wind was. Second was Michael & Olivia, in the red boat, third
Darrell & Marylou, followed by Matt Loeffler & his friend Mark in
Donkey Who?
The social activities were great, good food, good rock & roll band.
Camped with a couple from Scotland, Scott was learning some of the
latest (500 year old) dance moves. Dave even got a visit from a bear
raiding his food box.
